                Narakakkanam is a rural area , located in Idukki in Kerala . Which is also known for off road riding ,but most popular for this 1.5 KM underground tunnel.This tunnel is actually created for passing water from living area to the dam.On the monsoon season this tunnel is fully filled up with water and the journey is not possible. The one end of this tunnel is the human living area and the far end is the forest.When we start journey from one end ,we are only able to see a white dot , and that white dot is the light from the other end.It's better to go as a team and to have some lights on your hand ,because some cold water snakes and bats are present in this tunnel. This tunnel is created by drilling bottom of a giant rock.Walking trough the tunnel is a great experience,the cold water stream will make your legs freeze and the presence of bats will make a horror feeling.When you reach the middle of the tunnel both of the ends are visible like white dots.When you approach the far end  you are able to see the beauty of the forest.The cold water stream is turned in to a water fall on the forest side and finally this water stream is join up with dam.This forest side is a living place for huge no of wild animals,especially the wild elephants and mlav(a kind of big deer), they are using this dam side to drink water.So be careful about them.If you don't have much practice on swimming then never try to step in to the dam.Just keep in mind that this a forest side and You will not get any medical help.

    Jankar in a Vehicle used to transport the Vehicles as well as the People across any Water sources.To travel in a Jankar You have to take a ticket from the Counter near Jankar Jetty(the place where Jankar Stops) ,the fair starts from INR 5 (for people) and different for the Vehicles ( the fare is varies according to type and size of the vehicles).You have the visual of the Sea ,Boats of Fishermen and Ships of coast guards from the Jankar.

Marine Drive

          That was a Sunday and we planned for a trip to Fort Kochi. Our group consists of 4 people, 3 from Kerala and 1 from Hyderabad. We plan go to the Marine Drive first.The Marine Drive has an important part in the history of Kerala. The famous colleges Maharajas and St.Teras are located near Marine Drive. On Marine Drive we have several beautiful sights like Big Ships, Boats, couples, local merchants etc..

            When we reached on marine drive, we started to walk from one end to another end by enjoying this energetic sight. There we seemed group of students collecting money for University Arts Fest. The hyderabadian on our group, we called him “akkasotta” is always showing some incredible poses and requested to take one snapshot. The one end of marine drive is near Boat Jetty.

On Boating

             When we entered into the Boat Jetty, We can see a long and very slow queue to the ticket counter. There we can see some rule like one person can buy a maximum of 3 tickets, so two of us are standing on the queue. It takes up to 45 minutes to get the tickets. The ticket rate was very cheap and which is just INR 4 to Fort Kochi.

              The boating is taking up to 30 minutes, but each moment is filled up of energy and enjoyment. There we have several sights like big boats, fishing people, Island surrounded by water, Parts of old buildings etc…When we reached fort Kochi, first we go for The Kochi Muziris Biennale. Muziris Biennale is the famous art Fest, contains art works of people from different parts of the world. That was an awesome experiment, for enjoying some art works you need to work like an athlete.

            Each building in Fort Kochi will give you a feeling like you reached on an old world. Fort Kochi is also favorite of  filim directors.We decide to spend the evening on The Mahatma Gandhi Beach near Fort Kochi. That was an unforgettable day.

This journey will give you very exciting moments. This a good place visit with your family. There is no food facility or security on the top of this mountain, you need to be  careful about yourself.

               You should be energetic and interested to reach top this mountain. There are no dangerous curves or big holes on this mountain, so that the journey should be safe. On the top of the mountain you can see some caves and  wild animals like monkey , kezha ( a special type of deer), etc...

On reality which was a part of Periyar river ,but when created the Idukki dam which is modified as a waterfall.It best to visit here in rainy or winter season.This place is surrounded by large no of trees and plants ,so You should have a feel like You are inside a forest.If you wish to go there,You should need to trace the route on google map and also You need to bring one pair boots,because this place contain different type of snakes.
